Gentle Kripalu Yoga Plus
In this “Yoga of Compassion”
students are encouraged to focus on Being Preasent
in their own experience and tuning in to the messages they are receiving from their body and emotional field, with compassion, with the understanding that every body is different, and in every moment its abilities may shift – rather than on competing, or striving for the “perfect” pose.
Christina Nienaber-Roberts
a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher
shares a particularly gentle form of Kripalu Yoga
appropriate for anyone and she welcomes people with no experience, prenatal couples, people recovering from injuries or illness, or with disabilities to join her classes – even the sight-impaired – while experienced yogis benefit from the deeply meditative quality of her practice and are often amazed at how much can be accomplished by “doing” so little and moving so slowly.
This is accomplished by guiding participants
into an ever-deepening experience of their true nature
drawing on her intimate, daily, practice of over ten years of Sacred Movement, which spontaneously blossomed within her when she faced a healing crisis – and which has similarities to Kripalu Yoga Stage 3, also called Meditation on Motion. Encouraging students to work with their eyes closed in a meditative state, these voice-guided experiences become a gentle vinyassa-flow of often very subtle movement, with periods of stillness, taking students into a deeper and deeper experience of body awareness and relaxation to tune in to their own inner wisdom – and their Sacred Self.
A number of the super-slow flowing
tai chi-like yoga sequences and meditations
that have come to Christina during Sacred Movement and that she shares during Very Gentle Kripalu Yoga classes are now being shared by other yoga and tai chi teachers locally as well as globally.
In Addition
Christina incorporates numerous self-care tools
such as massage, energy work, autogenic relaxation, somatics and more – as well as birth doula tricks for expectant couples and – hence the “Plus”.
