About the Photographers

Comox Valley photographers Christina Nienaber-Roberts and Keith Roberts

aim, through their images, to share their deep love of and communion with the natural world, as well as their passion for travel – and photography. Both have the uncanny ability to capture light in nature in a way that comes alive on canvas to provoke a deep resonance within the viewer. Their photographic images and artwork have been included in various exhibitions in South Africa, the Sultanate of Oman (where they both worked as geologists in the 1990’s), as well as in the UK where Keith hails from – and in Victoria, Vancouver and Courtenay, BC. They have also both had several of their images published internationally, won awards, and received commissions for both their photographic work and their pen and ink drawings for books and calendars.

Although most of the images in this series were taken in nearby Seal Bay Park, some are not local:

For instance, Angel in the Lane, the image that started the series on Light, was taken in the Botanical Gardens in Pietermaritzburg – the capitol of Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa, where Christina was born and raised. This image creates a response for most viewers even before reading the inscription, which gives a tantalizing glimpse of the story behind it. This image also adorns the cover of Christina’s first book, Messages of Love: Stories Around a Mother’s Passing, in which she shares more about the amazing events during that final stage of the journey that she shared with her  other in this lifetime. The companion book is entitled Be Who You Are: Messages form a Father’s Life and Passing. Both books are on sale via the website Shop.
